The Epic of Korea is a modification for the game Age of Civilizations III, immersing the player in the mysterious and little-studied world of the Three Kingdoms period in Korea. Here, you can become the great ruler of Goguryeo and realize the ambitious plans of King Gwanggaeto the Great.
Your task is to turn the tide of the Tang–Goguryeo wars, lead your troops, and capture Ansi—the impregnable fortress that became a symbol of resistance. Can you change history and create the greatest empire in East Asia?
Our mod offers the player:
A unique stylistic interface that immerses the player in the era.
A unique map of the Korean Peninsula and its immediate borderlands.
The map features completely reworked landscape and city textures.
The mechanics for monuments have been completely overhauled. There are now over a thousand monuments themselves.
Unique units reflecting the spirit of the era.
Historical scenarios:
400 BCE
100 BCE
300 CE
629 CE
901 CE
1100 CE
The presented scenarios were created based on numerous sources not previously translated into our language. We sought to reflect the multitude of tribes and lesser-known states, focusing on historicity and authenticity.
Scenarios include many states that have no equivalents in other modifications.
The government system has been reworked into a system of doctrines, such as Legalism or the School of Names, which were popular during the studied time period.
The religion system has undergone similar transformations.
Instead of national ideas, a mechanics of military traditions has been introduced.
Legacies have now been replaced by numerous inventions.
The game’s localization has also been completely transformed and concisely integrated into the overall style.
The technology tree, recreated entirely from scratch, deserves special attention.
Technology groups for different cultures have been introduced, making gameplay in different parts of the world more diverse.
As part of technological development, a saboteur mechanics has been introduced, completely replacing the analogous nuclear weapons mechanics from the original game.
The technology tree is the sole means of development for all aspects of the state.
All buildings from the original game have been removed and replaced with a sufficient number of new ones, fitting the overall tone.
Unique buildings have been introduced for rare resources, allowing for significant strengthening of one’s system.
All resources have been fundamentally reworked.
Missions have also been changed, reworked into achievements obtained in the Heavenly Temple.
Some historical rulers and military leaders have been integrated.
Many bugs from the original game have been fixed.
Changes have been made to the game’s code.
Game balance has been reworked.
Economic and political systems have been changed.
The musical score has been changed.
Terrain types have been changed.
A number of formable civilizations have been added.
The updated law system deserves special attention. It is not only professionally developed from a legal standpoint, reflecting all key positions and classifications in various branches and sub-branches of law regulating comprehensive social relations of that time, but also adapted to the mod’s overall style.
And much, much more, best explored in the game itself.
Note: The screenshots are in the original language, but the text in the assembled build has been fully translated into English.
